About the Program
The Educational Leadership program with a concentration in Adult and Organizational Learning at Montclair State University is committed to preparing professional adult educators to work in a wide variety of settings such as higher education, business and industry, and health and social service agencies by facilitating work place learning, and planning and managing educational training programs for adults. Graduates of this program will learn to:
- Apply principles of adult learning to training development and delivery of programs to enhance employee learning and grow their organizations.
- Understand the stages in the development and mastery of new knowledge and skills, and how that knowledge impacts the adult learning paradigms.
- Develop an environment where culturally responsible training and administering is the norm, all learners have opportunities to learn and grow, and where the backgrounds of the learners are used to create rich instructional opportunities.
- Model the skills and abilities of an educated leader and professional developer, including critical thinking and questioning; creative problem solving; clear, professional, and fluent communication; and technological proficiencies.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and incorporate into practice, the values, ethics and standards of the professions and practice fields of the stakeholders in ways that are moral, fair, and ethical.
- Manage the training environment efficiently and effectively, using resources in ways that enable members to grow and enhance their learning with cross-cultural encounters characterized by an open mind, a willingness to learn from each other, mutual respect, objectivity, and rational critiques.
- Create a training environment that values and encourages the expression of cross-cultural content, and constructive dialogue.
