Curriculum and Teaching

The Department of Curriculum and Teaching is "home" to faculty who teach courses in special education, curriculum, education technology, and certificate programs in Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant, Teacher of Students with Disabilities, Gifted and Talented education.

The C & T vision statement, with gratitude to Maxine Greene for her inspiration, captures faculty consensus about who we aspire ourselves to become and our work to inspire:

Radical Imagination: Educators who see things as they are not yet.

The CEHS mission statement is stated below:
Our collective mission is to prepare educators who:

  1. Believe in and nurture every learner,

  2. Pursue pedagogical excellence,

  3. Magnify the possibilities of democratic and inclusive practices, and

  4. Transcend systemic forces that perpetuate mediocrity.

  5. We see learners, teachers, institutions, and society as interdependent. We see them as they are not yet.
