CURR 451: Teaching for Learning I

Students will investigate democratic classroom practice by focusing on curriculum development, creating a positive climate for learning in their classrooms, and choosing appropriate teaching strategies and assessments to create successful learning experiences for their students. This is the first course in a two-semester sequence in preparation for student teaching and the beginning of the students' professional careers in teaching. 3 hours lecture.

Prerequisites: EDFD 200; CURR 210, EDFD 210 or READ 210; EDFD 220; EDFD 221; CURR 305, EDFD 305 or READ 305; CURR 310; CURR 312, EDFD 312 or READ 312; CURR 314; CURR 316; READ 411; and admission to the teacher education program.
