BECOME A PRUDENTIAL TEACHING SCHOLAR

Final Information Session of the Fall term Wednesday, November 14, 6pm-7:30pm, University Hall;
Room 1030, MSU
The Prudential Foundation and the Center of Pedagogy at Montclair State University seek strong, post-baccalaureate teacher candidates to teach math and science in the Newark Public Schools
    o If you graduated college with a strong GPA and a major in math or science, or the equivalent
    o If you want to enhance your career by becoming a teacher leader
    o This program will pay your tuition to obtain a teaching license in math or science

Program Highlights

  • 36 credits over 2 years
  • Cohort community and leadership forums
  • Close mentoring by experienced faculty from the schools and the university
  • Ongoing academic advisement and support
  • Practice teaching in schools committed to teacher learning
  • Induction support during the first three years of teaching
  • Generous stipend available for ex-military personnel

Candidate Highlights

  • 2.8 minimum undergraduate GPA
  • Undergraduate major in math, science, or a close equivalent (21 - 30 credits)
  • Commitment to work in urban high schools
  • Passing score on mathematics or science Praxis
