Institute for the Advancement of Philosophy for Children

In accordance with its triparite mission-to conduct research and scholarship in educational philosophy,
to offer curriculum and teacher preparation in Philosophy for Children and to contribute to initiatives
of educational reform toward inquiry-based pedagogy-the IAPC periodically invites visiting scholars
for periods of weeks, months, semesters, or an entire academic year. These invitations may be made
at the initiation of the Institute or the scholar.

The IAPC Provides Visiting Scholars:
- Office space (shared)
- A faculty advisor
- Consultation with other faculty members
- Professional venues for their work (e.g., talks, workshops & publications)
- Help obtaining a visa
- Help arranging temporary housing
- Use of the IAPC library, the Curriculum Resource Center and MSU’s Sprague Library
- A temporary MSU email account
- Certificate and letter of recognition
The IAPC Does Not Provide:
- Salary
- Housing or living expenses
- Travel expenses
- Health Insurance
Visiting Scholar Charges
The cost of the Visiting Scholar Program depends on the length of the visit. (A portion of the cost may be waived if it is determined that the benefit to the IAPC from the scholar’s work will likely outweigh the amount of the fees normally charged.)

Visa Information
International visitors from certain countries may enter the United States
without a visa. Others may travel on the B1 or B2 visitors visa, as long as:

stay is for 90 days or less

You do not plan to enroll in classes

You will not be receiving any payment from a source
in the US, including Montclair State University.
