| DESCRIPTION |
Senior-level, tenure-track position as Chair of the Elementary, Early Childhood, and Literacy Education Department—a dynamic and growing department with graduate and undergraduate programs in early childhood, elementary, and literacy education. The Chair provides academic leadership and vision for the department. Responsibilities include mentoring new faculty members; supporting faculty scholarship, publishing and professional activities; leading curriculum development; and representing the department at college and university meetings. The Chair is supported by a department administrator, a secretary, and faculty program coordinators. The Chair teaches one undergraduate or graduate course focused on elementary/early childhood education per semester. |

| QUALIFICATIONS |
Doctorate in elementary/early childhood education, curriculum and teaching, or closely related field with strong emphasis on elementary/early childhood education. Teaching experience at the higher education and elementary/early childhood levels or equivalent and higher education administrative or program coordination experience. An active, well-defined research agenda, record of scholarship, and scholarly publications that merit appointment at Associate or Full Professor rank. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills. Leadership qualities and the ability to build partnerships with schools and communities.
