NCATE Accreditation

Welcome from the Dean

Montclair State University's teacher education program has a long history of national accreditation. In fact, Montclair was among the first group of institutions accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) in 1954 and has been continuously accredited since then. More than fifty years later, NCATE is the premier accrediting agency for education professionals, accrediting more than 630 colleges of education.

We are proud of our long-standing accreditation and committed to maintaining the high quality of our programs for the preparation of educators. Our response to NCATE's evolving standards and guidelines has helped us maintain our commitment to excellence.

Through the links on this website, you will find information related to our NCATE accreditation and our innovative performance assessment system. We hope you find the material useful.

Feel free to contact our NCATE Coordinator if you have any questions: Tamara Lucas (lucast@mail.montclair.edu).
